Overview/Background

A leader in the healthcare and life sciences space sought to revolutionize supply chain operation through the creation of a new low-code development platform called Opus. Opus allows partners to configure and customize solutions that integrate all processes from across their supply chain. Our team was tasked with crafting a solution that provided the following functionality:

1. The ability to create digital networks for internal and external data sharing
2. Integration of business processes across these networks
3. The ability to build and manage enterprise and multi-enterprise solutions utilizing a no code drag and drop design environment and a low-code development environment

Research

The project scope was massive so we began by narrowing our focus on key functional aspects of the product. Working with our in-house Center of Excellence Team we identified and built out the key personas for both the design and development environments, a group that included the combined efforts of internal and external users. Interviews and surveys followed that allowed us to broaden our understanding while providing additional product requirements. An extensive competitive analysis was also conducted so that we could identify missing opportunities in the market place.

Design

We outlined the basic workflows which allowed us to design a simple, low-fidelity UI for the design and development environments. The designs were then validated through a series of usability tests which lead to further iteration and testing. As the overall Opus UI was progressing we also began cataloging and designing the various components needed, using Google Material as a base. Once we felt confident that we had reached a suitable MVP for the different environments a fraction of our team peeled off to begin exploring hi-fidelity designs to align with a parallel effort to rebrand the organization.
